Andover volunteers will assist with farm duties such as cleaning the tack rooms and track, mending fences, clearing trails, helping to build hay holders or other areas of need, etc. Volunteers should prepare to work outdoors. Boots and work gloves recommended. Families are welcome but children under 12 must always be accompanied by a parent or adult. Volunteers will be asked to complete a waiver in advance of participating.
About the Organization: Windrush Farm is an equestrian therapeutic riding organization in North Andover, MA, that serves children and adults with special needs from age 2 for hippotherapy and from age 6 for therapeutic riding and horse related activities.
Their clients include those with a wide range of developmental, physical and emotional challenges including, but not limited to, the following: Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Impaired Vision, Multiple Sclerosis, Spinal Cord Injury, and Traumatic Brain Injury. Windrush Farm also serves clients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), survivors of human trafficking and underserved youth.
